Diner Grill
January 05, 2010
Now that it is 2010, I’d like to take a
step back in time…
Imagine an old dining car that has been retired from the tracks and now rests on Irving Park Road. You can’t miss Diner Grill because of its bright white exterior that glows throughout the night. And, if you happen to be hungry at 3:00 in the morning, Diner Grill is just the spot because it is open 24 hours.
As far as being on a diet or watching what you eat is concerned, Diner Grill is not for you. It is a greasy spoon diner that will comfort you with its diner classics and great people. Everything is made right in front of you while you sit on the stool along the counter. And, that’s pretty much all it is; a counter, a grill and stools! There’s also a small TV so you can watch Chicago sports highlights or the news.
What to get at the Diner Grill…
Everyone needs to try a double cheeseburger with onions, of course. If you’re not in the mood for a burger, they serve breakfast all day. Their egg sandwiches are great and they have omelets, French toast, pancakes and much more for breakfast. They also serve chili and other diner classics like a strip steak sandwich or a patty melt. Can’t decide? You can have it all for $8.50. The Slinger at Diner Grill comes with hash browns, eggs, two hamburger patties, cheese and chili. Turns out if you finish it, you get a certificate.
This is a place that everyone needs to try at least once. Let’s just say I tried it twice in a twelve-hour period and would consider myself a bit of a regular.
